Pollution Control - Legal Aspects
The Dangerous Substances Acts of 1972 and 1979 require that all petroleum and oil distribution outlets, both retail
and private, should incorporate an approved Petroleum/Oil Interceptor in their drainage systems in order to prevent
Hydrocarbon waste from polluting water supplies from creating a fire hazard.
In line with their overall pollution control program BMS Ltd. have developed the BMS Petrol/Oil Interceptor.
Using the three chamber range which is manufactured in accordance with BS 8301 : 1985, separation rates of at least
94% can be achieved. Because they are manufactured from Glass Reinforced Plastic, 'BMS Interceptors' are rot proof
and impact resistant and when installed and used in proper circumstances should remain serviceable for at least
30 years.

Agrément Certification:
BMS have obtained Agrément Certification on their Three Chamber Interceptor range. This certificate is a
published technical report indication their fitness for use. It was issued by the Irish Agrément Board,
following rigorous testing by the National Standards Authority of Ireland (NSAI) from design and manufacture through
to installation.
Installation:
- BMS Petrol/Oil Interceptors are available ex-stock ensuring immediate delivery. Access shafts are available
with the Interceptor, which can enable pipe depths of up to 1.0m to be accommodated.
- As BMS Interceptors are easily connected to any size of pipework, a typical installation using unskilled labour
should be completed in less than one day. This ensures low labour costs.
- Detailed easy to follow instructions are available to the contractor or those responsible for installation.
